Aliens...why not?

1. What are the four ways scientists can detect planets?

a. Radial Velocity

b. Astrometry

c. Transit Method

d. Optical Detection

2. Which way makes the most sense to you? Explain it.

Astrometry because they use Geometry for them and it's easier when they include some type of math problem.

3. Explain the concept of the "Goldilocks Zone."

When a planet is far enough away or close enough for the weather to be "just right."

4. If Gilese 581c does have life, what do you think it would look like? How would it act? Would it be intelligent?

Mutated animals to our opinion, surprised or aggressive for invasion of space, yes.

5. Do you believe in aliens? Why or why not? Give me a solid paragraph.

Possibly because they may just be as scared as us to reach out. We don't know what they're going to do if they do exist. We both are unpredictable to the other "race". We can't really know if they exist and we also have no evidence of them being here.

Planet Atmospheres

In the Jovian planets the primary gas is hydrogen. 'Though in Venus and Mars it is carbon dioxide.
I would go to Mercury because they have some oxygen so it would be easier to breath. Also, it is a smaller planet and would be easier to take care of it if I were to be there for a while. You could control how much pollution is happening when you have a smaller planet. Even though it is very close to the sun, we could make things to help protect us. Maybe someday, be able to walk around without protective gear.

ACP!!

1. Black Holes - Black holes are pretty cool. They are pretty straight forward with what they are. It is just a black hole. Black holes can kill you because it has so much gravity, but we might have categorized it too quickly. It may be a worm hole. We never know because if we look around or not our universe is too big to really tell if it is or not.

2. Worm Holes - Worm holes, also known as Einstein-Rosen Bridges, are known for their possible time travel. Scientists believe, if it is possible to time travel, worm holes are the best ways to do so. They believe that it won't just take you back maybe a couple days, weeks, or even months, but light-years! For right now, worm holes are currently believed, mostly by scientists, that they can help travel through space.

3. Mars - There have been many debates about whether we can or can't live on Mars. Still, to this day, scientists are studying to settle these nonstop debates. Mars has the nick name, The Red Planet. This planet got it's nick name by its soil being red. Origninally Mars was a religious planet, but it's lost it's meaning over the years. Mars has two moons orbiting it called Phobos and Demios, but they aren't really moons. The moons are captured asteriods.

4. Titan (one of Saturn's moons) - I always thought it would be cool to learn about another moon. Not our Moon because we see it everyday. We don't get to see a different moon, but to see one of many moons from Saturn and learn about it would be awesome. Titan is very big and if I can't choose the Andromeda Galaxy, I'm deffinitely choosing this one.

5. Andromeda Galaxy - Andromeda is just a galaxy with a huge black hole. People can consider it to be a spiral or an elliptical galaxy. It is considered a spiral galaxy only because of it's two arms. This galaxy has satellites to observe it. It also would win if it were to go against our galaxy, the Milky Way, because it's black hole is so much bigger than ours.

The Air and the Best Blog

I have to say my best blog was the one with the hurricanes. I am very familiar with hurricanes and always found them fascinating. This caused me to take an intrest and do very well. I enjoyed learning about the clouds because they were, yet again, an intrest of mine. I always wondered about them when I was little. I would also sometimes just go out and lay on the grass and look at them. Really just trying to see what they shaped like until a later age, then I started wondering how they formed. I think I should get a B because I did go off subject a little but then again did.

B meaning 85.

All About the Earth

New Century International Elementary School is planning on getting rainwater collections, geothermal A/C, and solar powered panels. Solar powered panels absorbes sun so it can be made into energy. Rainwater collections gathers water and filters it so you can get clean water. Geothermal A/C helps with controling the heating and air conditioning with natural energy. I chose Conservation and Biodiversity. Human expansion is threatening the animals. If we were to maybe start a zoo we could start saving some of the animals lives. If we can't do that then we could start bulldozing previous buildings and build on the land that was there. This was we could watch what we do and save animals lives.

Helianthus Annuus Pollen

Oak trees are affecting us the most right now with their pollen. You would need trees and plants mixed with dry and windy weather to have the perfect storm of pollen.
The pollen from the Helianthus annuus (the picture to the left) looks the coolest to me because it kind of look like thorns that you would find on other plants. This type of pollen also reminds me of the bacteria section we learned back in 8th grade. Helianthus annuus is commonly found in sunflowers. You can find this plant in the United States. A sunflower is a yellow flower with a brown center. This type of flower can get from 1 1/2 to 8 feet tall.

States of Matter

There are five states of matter. They are solids, gases, liquids, plasmas, and Bose-Einstein. To change a gas to a plasma you need higher energy. The absolute zero temperature for Kelvin is 0. The absolute temperature for Fahrenheit is -459.67 degrees. The absolute temperature for Celsius is -273.15. The temperature in space using Kelvin is 3. I would imagine plasma would look a kind of silly putty type. I would imagine it smelled funny and felt strange almost as if it were a warm goo and the taste terrible.
